Fool Hardy Circus

We invited Fool Hardy Circus in to talk to us about life in the circus and let us try out new and different circus skills. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed exploring all of the different resources.

We started the morning by learning how to juggle. We learnt tips like: aim for the height of your forehead, keep one hand lazy and let the other do the throwing and keep your eye on the ball.
                                          

We watched them perform all different tricks with lots of equipment.
























And then we got to explore ourselves!!!

What a treat! This morning Alfie's Uncle came into visit and demonstrate his skills as a local baker. We talked about what ingredients we needed, mixed them together and kneaded our dough. We then manipulated our dough into different shapes before letting it prove and baking. We learnt that at the bakers they use a special machine to mix and beat the dough and that whole meal bread is the trickiest to bake! Bakers work through out the night so our bread is baked fresh and ready for the morning. We poured in the flour.  Then we added an improver, salt and sugar. The salt is important to need the yeast. We mixed the ingredients together.  We added warm water to the yeast to dissolve it ready to add to our mixture.  We poured the yeast mixture into the flour.  We combined the wet and dry ingredients. Our Favourite Books

Through out this school year we will be taking it in turns to bring in our favourite story or book from home to share with our friends. Z started us off on our reading adventure today with: The Gruffalo's Child by Julia Donaldson    'I brought it in because I like this book because the little Gruffalo escapes outside and its snowing but the big one stays asleep. The big one snores like Mummy! Cody used to read it to me he is my biggest brother'. T was very keen to share: Mr Chatterbox by Roger Hargreaves   'Look at this page because there is a big hat. Daddy reads it to me at bedtime. I have the whole complete set'. D brought in a selection of books but from them all he picked: Danny's Christmas at the North Pole. 'I really wanted to see Father Christmas and I will show you.
