What a treat! This morning Alfie's Uncle came into visit and demonstrate his skills as a local baker. We talked about what ingredients we needed, mixed them together and kneaded our dough. We then manipulated our dough into different shapes before letting it prove and baking. We learnt that at the bakers they use a special machine to mix and beat the dough and that whole meal bread is the trickiest to bake! Bakers work through out the night so our bread is baked fresh and ready for the morning. We poured in the flour. Then we added an improver, salt and sugar. The salt is important to need the yeast. We mixed the ingredients together. We added warm water to the yeast to dissolve it ready to add to our mixture. We poured the yeast mixture into the flour. We combined the wet and dry ingredients. We had a wonderful day at the Norfolk Show! The weather was kind to us and we managed to get to see lots of different things. Some of our favourites: Zac 'I loves the pretend horse that we got to ride really fast'. Kaiden 'I saw some sheep and we picked up some of their wool after they had been sheared'. Max 'I liked looking at the different army tanks'. Zak 'I liked watching the horse race'. Oliver 'I liked the ponies'. Jenson ' I like making the pizza'. Caleb 'I loved the giant rabbit'. Louise ' I liked being on the bus and seeing far away'.
