Woodpeckers spent the afternoon looking for different flowers and trees around school. They drew and labelled all the different plants that they found.
Through out this school year we will be taking it in turns to bring in our favourite story or book from home to share with our friends. Z started us off on our reading adventure today with: The Gruffalo's Child by Julia Donaldson 'I brought it in because I like this book because the little Gruffalo escapes outside and its snowing but the big one stays asleep. The big one snores like Mummy! Cody used to read it to me he is my biggest brother'. T was very keen to share: Mr Chatterbox by Roger Hargreaves 'Look at this page because there is a big hat. We wanted to share all of our exciting learning and experiences about the circus with our families. So we invited them in!! Popcorn making, building a wooden circus tent, tight rope walking, custard pie making, clown face painting, a refreshment stall to buy things, trapeze artists, circus music, performing skills and a big top parachute proved exciting, messy, adventurous and fun!!! We all had a wonderful morning!
What a treat! This morning Alfie's Uncle came into visit and demonstrate his skills as a local baker. We talked about what ingredients we needed, mixed them together and kneaded our dough. We then manipulated our dough into different shapes before letting it prove and baking. We learnt that at the bakers they use a special machine to mix and beat the dough and that whole meal bread is the trickiest to bake! Bakers work through out the night so our bread is baked fresh and ready for the morning. We poured in the flour. Then we added an improver, salt and sugar. The salt is important to need the yeast. We mixed the ingredients together. We added warm water to the yeast to dissolve it ready to add to our mixture. We poured the yeast mixture into the flour. We combined the wet and dry ingredients.
