Roydon Fen

Image
On Thursday we walked up to Roydon fen thanks to all of our fantastic helpers. We had wonderful time den building, bug hunting with pots and nets, sketching, bark rubbing, exploring the fen, carrying out a spring spotter sheet, playing a camouflage game and lots more. We learnt about different habitats, talked about the sings of Spring and enjoyed being our with nature. We recommend a family visit. Remember to keep quiet so not to scare the wild life, only take away pictures and memories leave only leave behind footprints!

Woodpeckers trip to Roydon Fen.

The children had great fun at Roydon fen. They spent the morning exploring the fen and having a go at a range of different activities.  They went bug hunting and found a range of bugs including wood lice , worms, snails, beetles, spiders and ladybirds.  They had a go at den building and made a den they could get into.  They had a go at finding coloured pipe cleaners. The bright ones they found easily but the brown and black ones proved a bit more tricky!  They spent time looking around the fen and seeing what signs of animals and Spring they could find. They were fascinated by a large hole.  They also spent time drawing what they could see and doing rubbings.  A fab time was had by all.

Have you pressed our new sound buttons to see what we said about Roydon Fen? Our Arctic den - where polar bear escapes, fishing, ice climbing and much more happened! The artist Mondrain was our inspiration when creating colourful pieces of art. We thought about our homes. We used paper mache to create a model of our own home. We used different pieces from junk modelling to create our own bedroom. We have been bringing in our favourite book from home to share with our friends. What book would you like to take flight with? If you visit our 'Favourite Books' blog you will be able to see our reviews. What different ways can you think of to make 10? Our Jungle Lodge has seen many adventures. Children have escaped anacondas, hidden from puma, sketched jaguars, watched scarlet macaws fly through the canopy and more! We had lots of fun learning about the Chinese New Year We will be learning about the 4 seasons all
